19.11.20 - ARTIST INSPIRATION - Sara Budzik

These sculptures by Sara Budzik are enlarged representations of common garden slugs and snails. I think the scale works really well because it looks uncanny despite the shapes being so naturalistic, so there is something alien about it, like creatures from an alternative reality. For this reason, I have enjoyed making larger versions of small animals in my own work and wanted to take it further for my final piece with an even bigger sculpture of a stag beetle that feels otherworldly, out of place and odd.
