Djanogly is a gallery space in Nottingham with a shop and cafe. It hosts art exhibitions, music, theatre, dance and comedy performances.
Personally I have only visited this gallery a couple of times but I think the different spaces inside allow a range of work to be displayed in ways that suit them best. For instance, when I went, the main room with a higher ceiling had very large paintings with grand frames, while the smaller rooms didn't have such big pieces so it felt more intimate and the work didn't seem lost. At the moment, I am working on a fairly small scale so I would feel more comfortable exhibiting my work in one of the smaller rooms if I had the choice.
Nottingham Contemporary
'Since opening in 2009, we have welcomed two million people and presented more than 50 exhibitions. We have become renowned for our innovative research and learning programmes, and our building has been hailed as an architectural triumph.
Nottingham Contemporary grew out of Angel Row Gallery, which presented more than 200 exhibitions between 1991 and 2007. Nottingham Contemporary and our iconic purpose-built venue, was made possible through capital funding from Arts Council England, Nottingham City Council, East Midlands Development Agency, Greater Nottingham Partnership'

What I like about Nottingham Contemporary is the spaciousness and open layout that means some really interesting art often comes in including large sculptural pieces. The shop and cafe make it a friendlier experience as well, I don't think the exterior is the most welcoming design but it is still iconic and critically acclaimed.
It's hard to imagine my work in this gallery because I have only seen very established, reputable artists in there with seemingly high budget projects, and this is not the position I am at in my career as an artist. I would be happy if I could reach that level one day though.
