Artist Statement, Creative CV and Online presence

In my practice, I aim to explore ideas of human instinct and our relationships with the natural and artificial worlds. Through drawing, textiles and ceramics, I create sensitive and playful works on a small scale that embody these concepts. My values as an artist are to be resourceful and reduce my consumption of new materials; I use second hand or ready-mades whenever possible due to environmnental concerns that often manifest in my work.

Online Presence

I use my instagram account @fdacharlotte to give candid insights into my creative world. I share progress images of my work, final outcomes, and other photographs that I take in the process. Instagram lets me reach targeted audiences through the use of hashtags, and I can discover and follow artists that inspire me. My peers regularly comment on my posts with feedback and encouragement, so it is a positive space. On my profile I have also included a link to my blog for anyone who wants a more in depth experience of my work. Another way I can gain feedback through instagram is using the stories feature, which lets you create polls and initiate Q&A style interactions. I find this helpful in certain decision making processes because I can ask my followers to vote between two options - I might ask them which their favourite image is or which colour scheme they think is most effective for example.
